Cybersecurity And IT Jobs

Cybersecurity has been an underserved industry in the last few years, especially when it comes to the highest levels of the government.  According to CyberSeek, there are currently over 500,000 unfilled cybersecurity jobs across the U.S.  In addition, there is a skills gap between American and foreign workers.

To help combat this, tech giants Google, Microsoft and Apple have pledged billions to help the U.S. government improve their cybersecurity.  The meeting was held in response to multiple high-profile cyberattacks against critical infrastructure and government agencies.  The money pledged will go towards strengthening defenses and training new cybersecurity workers.  Google alone has pledged to train 100,000 Americans in fields like IT support and data analytics.  Apple has vowed to work with it’s 9,000-plus suppliers to implement multi-factor authentication.  Microsoft is committing to deliver advanced security solutions, and will make money available for all levels of government to improve protections.

With computing power so easily accessible around the world, and with more and more devices connected to the internet, cybersecurity has never been more important.  From small business to a national government, anyone can find themselves a target.  With more workers entering the battle, we can catch these cyber intrusions before they become critical breaches.
